As a Talent Acquisition individuals we come across a situation where an individual called as candidate takes up the offer we provide only to not join at a later stage. As a recruiter it the most frustrating,demotivating situation one can come across and how many times in a month do we face something like this.
I face this on a daily basis where candidate reject the offer and do not even bother to inform us , the reasons like i got a better hike,my company retained me by giving more money then your offer , location is a problem, i am not comfortable etc etc…Don’t these candidates know all of this before accepting the given offer? The issue is there is no tracking system to this behavior hence this upfront behavior of taking offer lightly.
We are left with very few steps for controlling this situation:
We should create a database shared by every recruiter toward candidates pattern.
On the offer letter we should mention this letter should not be considered while negotiating outside our company.
Even companies should understand that in-spite of accepting the offer elsewhere he comes to your organisation then why even offer him more.
Or initiate some personal connection with the candidate in person for him to avoid taking you or your consultant for a ride to increase his market value.
Instead of entertaining such candidate organisations should unite and make a decision of not interviewing the candidates who have offers ,this will make the job seekers serious about offer letter and treat the decision with respect.
